The New Pathways -- D-Day 15 March 2018

A few more days... and we will be holding our World Speech Day 2018 once again. This is the third time we are hosting the event at YMCA Auditorium; special thanks to the kind sponsorship from YMCA of Singapore, home of YMCA Toastmasters Club.

Hmmm... I cannot help but recall this sentimental song from the musical, Les Miserables...

One day more!
Another day, another destiny.
This never-ending road to Calvary;
These men who seem to know my crime
Will surely come a second time.
One day more!
I did not live until today.
How can I live when we are parted?
One day more.
(Encore)

Indeed, we had come a long way. It was an event conceived out of passion and a vision to be a voice for 'A BETTER WORLD'. From unexpected voices come remarkable ideas.

World Speech Day (WSD) is a global event that celebrates speeches and the aspiration of making the world a better place to live in. It is an event where the world will get together as One Voice, One Community, One World.

On 15 March 2018, Ms Joan Pereira, Member of Parliament for Tanjong Pagar GRC, will grace the occasion as Guest of Honour. Apart from Toni International, this year’s participating organisations will comprise Pathlight School, Rotaract Clubs of ITE College East and ITE College Central, ITE College West Gavel Club, MINDS and Rotary Eclub of 3310.

To align with WSD’s global theme of ‘A Better World’, there will be an inaugural ‘Women Empowerment’ segment, where speakers will share their insights on how we can empower disadvantaged and abused women to find a new lease of hope in their lives.

Backed by popular demand, the Young Speakers Showcase featuring aspiring youth crusaders of noble causes will return for a second season. Rotary Hour is from 8pm to 9pm.

After this WSD event, I am only one more project speech away to complete my DTM project. I plan to deliver this at YMCA Toastmasters Club on 21 March 2018.
