The New Pathways -- A Second Chance

To me, Pathways is about a second chance for those who are done with the legacy track, for those who have yet to begin and, for Toastmasters, an opportunity to reposition itself in a world of blended learning.

Here is my personal story.

5 years ago, I was on a Rotary Community Service Mission to Cebu, Philippines, with fellow Rotarians from R.I. District 3310. I was kicked out by St Peter at the Gates of Heaven.

Apparently I had not done enough here on earth... and was sent back to do more!! Lol.

On that fateful day, I stopped breathing for awhile according to a Rotarian doctor friend who was also there. In other words, I had died for a few minutes.

Frankly, I could not remember much. I knew that my name was about to be called as one of two Rotarians to be recognised. I was ready to stand up... only to wake up with concerned faces crowding around me.

Those were anxious moments with the Filipino children and others praying very very hard for me. When I came around, the worried but very hospitable Cebu Rotarians insisted that I should get a thorough medical checkup including MRI.

In spite of my protests, I was put in an ambulance and sent off to the very best private hospital in Cebu. I was examined by many medical specialists but they could not find anything odd. So I was sent back to the hotel to rest.

Unlike most people with such a scare, my first liquid was not the usual drips... but a nice cool San Miguel beer! WOW. It was my life transfusion!!

Looking ahead I shall continue to live a life of no regrets. I look forward to many adventures and have many more lives touched... and when the time finally come and my number is called, I will be ready.

If you share the same vision, let us walk in faith. Tomorrow is another day. I would not have become the last District Governor in District 80 if I had died then.

Today I have become a strong advocate of Pathways in District 80. I believe and see its potential. Join me and take the plunge together!
