The New Pathways -- The Base Camp Manager

I love this new Pathways Community... the Pathways Discussion Forum. It is perhaps the first time from my Toastmasters experience where people are so willing to share and learn together.

I wish to dedicate special thanks to Matthew Kleinosky! Through his sharing, we now know a little bit more about the inner workings of the Base Camp Manager!! https://umeryouknow.com/?p=1093

I have been a firm advocate of the Revitalised Education Program (REP) since the days of the appointment of Chief Ambassador and his team in District 80. Then, I was Lieutenant Governor, Education and Training. Although I never became an Ambassador or a Pathways Guide... I was passionately in love with the ideals and concept of this new educational system.

After a Toastmaster has completed one Level of a Pathways path, he has to “Mark Complete” for that the Level. When this is done, an email is automatically generated and sent to the club's Base Camp Manager. The Base Camp Manager (can be President, Vice President Education or Secretary) will then approve the Level completed before the member can have access to the next level.

These are the 3 simple and easy steps which the Base Camp Manager must do, as shared by Matthew.

In order for this  educational award to appear in Toastmasters Dashboard, the Base Camp Manager (usually Vice President Education) needs to take another action; submit the Level completion award using Club Central.

For many, this may help to explain why sometimes our Level completion does not appears on Toastmasters records until very much later.

  1. Thank you for the great post, and indeed, we are in the Pathways Discussion Forum, all helping and assisting each other. Even after having been Past District Covernor, you could be Secretary in a club and see the base camp for yourself too. I am now looking forward to it again, as I have volunteered to this role in June for this reason. It takes time, but end March it will be here, too. Great blog!

  2. Thanks for the informative blog. Now i know why 2 members in my club who had finished 3 levels and 1 level had not been recorded in Toastmasters International Dashboard., maybe the Vice President Education is not active , and depending so much on the President's follow up, who did tried her best to help as assistant would not do; it has to come from the Base camp Manager ( usually the vice president education , as you would mention)., even though the President did accept the completion of each level and a certificate is send to the individual. .as VPE took it lightly , (like a hobby, she once said to me..) so her attitude is not put right., so everything is on slow motion..., but maybe this should wake her up...thanks again
